Bank Statement Genie
Free · No credit card · 5-minute setup

Your bank, in a Google Sheet, a private dashboard, and your inbox.

Connect your bank once and see your money three ways: a simple web dashboard, a Google Sheet you own, and twice-weekly recap emails, all updated automatically. Use one or use all three. Your privacy is guaranteed.

Your data is never used, stored, or sold, we are 100% privacy first.

100% privacy first, and we mean it.

Your bank credentials never reach us. Your transaction data is never sold, shared, or used to train anything. We can't read any other file in your Google Drive. Ever.

Why Bank Statement Genie

The cycle that ends here.

If you have ever tried to track your money in a spreadsheet, you know the routine. We built this so you can stop doing it.

The old routine
Log into each bank, every month
Download a separate CSV per account
Clean up the formatting by hand
Paste it into your spreadsheet
Fix the formulas it broke
Do the whole thing again next month
Eventually give up and stop tracking
With Bank Statement Genie
Connect each bank one time
A Google Sheet appears in your Drive
Transactions keep streaming in on their own
Watch the trends in a simple dashboard
Get a spend recap by email, twice a week
Or skip the Sheet and dashboard entirely
Actually keep track of where your money goes

Privacy you can verify

We have no access to your bank account, we do not store your transaction data, and we do not sell it, to anyone, ever. Your data is used for one thing only: delivering the service to you.

12,000+ banks supported

From Chase and Bank of America to Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, Ally, Amex, and most credit unions, if your bank has online access, it almost certainly works here.

No spreadsheet? No problem.

Prefer a clean dashboard over a Sheet? The web dashboard shows MTD/YTD spend, top merchants, categories, trends, and recurring charges, no spreadsheet skills required. Want even less effort? Let the recap emails come to you.

A Sheet you actually own

Your transactions, in a Google Sheet that fills itself.

Connect a bank and a Google Sheet shows up in your own Drive, then keeps itself current as new transactions post. It is your file. Add your own tabs, charts, and formulas, share it with a partner, or export it. Nothing is locked inside our app.

A simple place to see it all

A clean dashboard, no spreadsheet skills required.

Prefer a screen over a Sheet? The private web dashboard shows this month and this year at a glance: what you spent, your top categories and merchants, recurring subscriptions, and a rolling twelve month trend. For a lot of people this is the whole product, and they never open the Sheet at all.

How it works

Three steps. About five minutes.

1

Sign in with Google

One click. We ask for permission to create one Google Sheet in your Drive, that's it. We can't see anything else.

2

Connect your bank

Log into your bank securely through our partner, we never see your password. Pick which accounts to include. Connect as many banks as you want.

3

Sheet, dashboard, inbox, your call

A Google Sheet appears in your Drive, a web dashboard lights up with your spending, and twice-weekly recap emails start landing in your inbox. Use one, use all three, switch whenever.

Google Workspace Marketplace

Install it straight into Google Workspace.

Bank Statement Genie is available on the Google Workspace Marketplace. Add it to your Google account in one click and open it right from where you already work, no separate password to remember. Your Google Sheet is still created in your own Drive, and the same read-only, privacy-first boundaries apply.

Who it's for

Built for people who like to see their money clearly.

DIY budgeters

You already have your own categories and formulas. You just want the raw data to arrive without having to fetch it.

Freelancers & small biz

Reconcile bank activity for tax season or bookkeeping without the manual export grind.

Couples & partners

Track joint and individual accounts in one shared workbook (or one shared dashboard).

Spreadsheet power users

Pivot, filter, and chart your transactions on your own terms, it's your Sheet, you own it.

Quiet trackers

You don't need fancy budgeting, you just want a clear picture once a month. The dashboard's enough.

Anyone tired of CSVs

If you've ever opened your banking app, sighed, and closed it again, this is for you.

Better together

The couples mode other apps charge for? It's just a Google Sheet.

Money apps bolt on "household sharing" as a premium tier. Your data here lives in a normal Google Sheet, so sharing it with a partner works the way sharing anything in Google works.

Share the Sheet, share the picture

Hit Share on your Sheet like any other Google file. Your partner sees every synced transaction, balance snapshot, and category, live, on any device, no second subscription.

One set of rules, two editors

Categories live in a Rules tab inside the Sheet. Either of you can add a rule ("Costco → Groceries") and it applies to everything, past and future.

Yours to un-share, too

It's your file in your Drive. Revoke access anytime, keep some banks in a separate un-shared Sheet, you control exactly who sees what.

Security & privacy

Exactly what we can, and can't, do.

No vague promises. Here's the actual boundary, in plain language.

What we can do

  • Read your transaction history (read-only, no money movement), we do not use your data for any purpose other than delivering the service
  • Write that data into the one Google Sheet we created for you
  • Refresh it on the schedule of your plan
  • Show you the same data in your private dashboard

What we can't do

  • See your bank username or password, ever
  • Move money, change settings, or touch your accounts
  • Read or modify any other file in your Google Drive
  • Sell, share, train models on, or otherwise use your data
  • Keep your data after you disconnect, it's gone

Disconnect a bank anytime to instantly revoke our access. Delete your Sheet to remove the data. We follow the same bank-grade security boundaries as the largest fintech apps in the world.

FAQ

Common questions, real answers.

How does Bank Statement Genie work?

Sign in with Google, connect your bank through a secure login flow, and we create a Google Sheet in your Drive that auto-updates with your transactions. You can also view everything in a built-in web dashboard with spending analytics, no Sheet required.

Is Bank Statement Genie on the Google Workspace Marketplace?

Yes. You can install Bank Statement Genie directly from the Google Workspace Marketplace and open it from your Google account. Installing from the Marketplace is free and uses the same secure Google sign-in, your Sheet is still created in your own Google Drive, and the same read-only privacy boundaries apply.

How do I get bank transactions into Google Sheets without downloading CSVs?

Instead of exporting a CSV or converting a PDF bank statement, connect your bank to Bank Statement Genie once. Your transactions then flow into a Google Sheet in your own Drive automatically, no downloads, no file conversion, no copy-paste. Free syncs monthly; Paid syncs in near real-time.

Do you have access to my bank account?

No. We never see your bank username or password. The bank login happens directly between you and your bank, we only receive read-only transaction data after you've authorized it. We cannot move money, change settings, or do anything beyond reading transactions.

Do you sell, save, or share my transaction data?

No. We don't sell, share, train AI models on, or otherwise use your data. Your transactions live in your own Google Sheet and are displayed in your dashboard, that's it. If you disconnect your bank, our copy of your access token is wiped and we no longer have any way to fetch your data.

Can you see other files in my Google Drive?

No. We use Google's narrowest drive.file permission, it grants apps access to only the files that app itself creates. We can see the single Sheet we made for you. Every other file in your Drive is completely invisible to us. Google enforces this at the API level, it's not a promise, it's a hard wall.

Which banks are supported?

More than 12,000 financial institutions, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, US Bank, PNC, Ally, Discover, American Express, and the vast majority of credit unions. If your bank has online banking, it almost certainly works.

Can I use just the web dashboard, without a Google Sheet?

Yes. The Sheet gets created automatically because some people prefer it, but you're not required to use it. The web dashboard alone shows month-to-date and year-to-date spending, category breakdowns, top merchants, recurring transactions, monthly trends, and a 12-month income-vs-spend chart.

Do I get spending updates by email?

Yes, and it's one of the nicest ways to use Bank Statement Genie if you just want a simple pulse on your money. We send two recap emails a week: a Friday "weekly money rundown" covering the last seven days, and an early-week "midweek check-in." Each one shows where your money went, your top spending categories, your biggest purchase, and how the week compares to the one before. They're optional, toggle either off from the dashboard's Settings tab, or unsubscribe in one click from any email.

How far back does the history go?

Most US banks provide up to 24 months of transaction history. The initial backfill takes a few minutes to a few hours to fully populate after you link a bank.

What happens if I delete my Sheet?

That's allowed, you own it. On the next sync, we'll create a fresh Sheet automatically. If you want to fully disconnect, use the "unlink bank" action in the dashboard and we'll revoke our access immediately.

Can I connect more than one bank?

Yes, as many as you like. Each bank creates its own tabs in your Sheet, and the dashboard aggregates everything together so you see your full financial picture in one place.

What's the difference between Free and Paid?

Free syncs once a month and gives you the Sheet plus a basic dashboard. Paid syncs in near real-time, unlocks the full analytics dashboard (category breakdowns, monthly trends, top merchants, recurring subscription detection), and gives you an on-demand "Sync Now" button.

Where exactly is my data stored?

Your transactions live in your Google Sheet inside your own Google Drive. We keep an encrypted access token in Google Cloud Firestore so we can refresh your data on schedule, and that's the entirety of what's on our infrastructure. We do not maintain a copy of your transactions.
